I am leading up to a big push with my photoshopped cards this February, trying to expand my market, get into more stores & majorly expand my Etsy shop. My creative process is a scattered one, and I can easily get sidetracked by new projects and ideas, cutting myself off from something that is already rolling. To combat that, I’m researching other photoshop artists and trying to broaden my ideas of what I can do.
I love Maggie Taylor’s work! Often I feel like photoshopped images can become overworked and it’s hard to strike the right balance of stylized & simple. She uses vintage photos and combines them, colorizes them, and creates new narratives. I’m sure that she illustrates some written work, but I appreciate that the story she’s telling is so clear with just the imagery. Also, she incorporates nice color schemes, and doesn’t add/enhance texture to the point of the work being static.
